VIVA VIGAN!

The Vigan City Festival is held on the 25th of January each year in honor of St. Paul the Apostle, the patron saint of the city. Biguenos return to Vigan from all over the country and even abroad, as it is the tradition of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends to celebrate their fiesta. Joined by thousands of tourists from other parts of the Philippines and other countries, with the aid of local industries and communities. There are food fairs, street dance contests, marching band competitions, arts and crafts displays such as parades, and trips to a carnival to enjoy, feel, and try the culture of a Filipino.

Unfortunately, this year's festival is no longer the same as it used to be because of the present condition created by the pandemic. Just some are done by this year with strict steps scheduled during the Kannawidan Festival, such as trade and fairs, sports fest and Saniata ti Ylocos Sur Pageant Competition. Although as enforced by the authorities, whenever going to public places, individuals are recommended to wear face masks and face shields.

The celebration of this year is different from the past years, we must understand the fact, it is a must to adjust to the new normal. Till this will stop soon, obey the health protocols being enforced. For now, safety will be our highest priority. Priorities and understanding are always first.
