To a more robust Philippines

It is therefore difficult for communities and the country to make economic, social , cultural and environmental choices on the best ways to ensure basic protection and quality of life against threats, malicious attacks and disasters. An important responsibility for increasing national resilience lies with residents and their communities.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold rapidly, with the introduction of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, Philippines has taken strict steps. Covid-19 is a pandemic which is affecting us all. This pandemic has reinforced the need for our cities to be governed more equitably and also told us of the need for our cities to accelerate and adapt to an evolving pandemic. Urban management is important for the efficient and effective delivery of services , in particular to ensure that all people have fair access in times of crisis and disasters to rapid and organized response efforts. Investing in increasing resilience which is the capacity to prepare and plan for, withstand, recover from, and more efficiently respond to traumatic events and one way to minimize the effects of disasters on the country and its communities. Enhanced resilience facilitates improved catastrophe anticipation and better preparation to mitigate catastrophe costs, rather than waiting and paying for an incident afterwards. To make our country more livable and built around the health, protection, and well-being of all citizens, we must work together.

Everyone must get the skill resilience that allows anyone to see the obstacles in a different light, recognize how that error could have been avoided, and use that insight to be more successful next time. It is something that we can be practiced and learned and improved for the greatness of our country and humanity. The pandemic is indeed a fight for every human being, but the joint effort and unity of all are crucial to eventually win this battle. We have a responsibility to gear up, step up and scale up.
